Cheeky, loud, black and proud – Deadly Funny is back! Deadly Funny is the biggest First Nations comedy competition in Australia. Proudly presented by the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, this national competition has been unearthing the freshest and funniest Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander talent from every corner of the country for 18 years.

ACT WORKSHOP & COMPETITION HEATS

Canberra entrants will get to work with comedian Jay Wymarra, the 2023 host and workshop facilitator.

All you need is five minutes of hilarious material. Whether it’s stand-up, musical, sketch, physical/dance, character-based, or simply sharing a funny yarn, the stage is yours!

Open to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders over the age of 18, competition participants will be given an opportunity to work with a seasoned professional comedian, in a three-hour workshop, to refine their ideas before unleashing them onstage in front of the competition judges and live audience.

There’s a massive $11,000 prize pool to be shared, so don’t miss this extraordinary opportunity. Stand up, get behind the microphone and bring your very own Deadly Funny to the stage! To sign up and for more info head to deadlyfunny.com.au.
